Which hosting package should I purchase?

You should choose a package that suits your budget and your needs. If you just want to build a homepage and host a few friends, you can choose the 'leggero' plan that comes with 200MB of disk space and 10GB of free bandwidth transfer. If you anticipate a large audience for your site, you may consider the bigger packages which have more disk space and allowed bandwidth.

How do I transfer my site to DifferentHost?

Although we offer free transfer of site on case by case basis, we would prefer clients to make the transfer of site themselves. If you want to transfer the site yourself, please check out our resources page for information on how to do that. If you have shell access on your old host, you can contact our technical support to do a quick transfer of the whole site for you. Please note that even for this method, you would still need to modify the path to home directory for your scripts etc.

I am not located in Singapore, can I sign up with DifferentHost?

Yes, anybody can sign up with DifferentHost as long as they are able to make payments regularly to DifferentHost.

Do you offer a money-back guarantee?

We offer 9 days money back guarantee for all our hosting packages. There is no money back guarantee for domain registration.

How long does it take to setup an account?

After your payment has been received, your account will be setup in less than 24 hours. You can notify us after making your payment so that we can process your account quickly.

What are the modes of payment you accept?

We accept payment via Internet banking (Singapore Banks) only.

What is the billing cycle?

We currently offer 4 types of billing cycles, Monthly (1 month), Quarterly (3 months), Half-Yearly (6 months) and Yearly (12 months). The Billing Cycle begins on the Plan Activation Date.

Domain Names

If I register my domain name with DifferentHost, do I own it? Can I transfer it?

Yes, the domain name will be registered under your name and email address and not ours. You can manage your domain name WHOIS info via our domain name control panel here

I already have a domain name, can I use it with a DifferentHost web hosting account?

Yes you can. First of all, you must make sure that your email address is listed as the Registrant and/or Administrative contact. Next, you must login to your registrar and make changes to the Name Servers values.

What Domain Names can I register with DifferentHost

We register .com, .net, .org, .info and .biz domains

How many domains can I host with my hosting account?

You can find out the number of domains allowed with each account here. If you want to host a second domain, it will be a one time fee of $5. The additional domain will share resources with the main domain.

Current Customers

Can I downgrade or upgrade my current account?

You can contact us and tell us your desired specifications and we can advise you on a suitable plan and also warn you of any effect in the event of a downgrade.

Can DifferentHost install scripts for me?

Yes, the technical support can install scripts for you free of charge but it depends on the staff's availabilty and the scripts' installation requirements. We advise all customers to install the scripts themselves so they will have experience handling installation of other scripts in the future.

Are MP3 files allowed on my site?

Yes and no. If the MP3 files belong to you and it is legal to make them available for download, you are allowed to host them. However, it is advisable not to make these files publicly known because they can make you reach or even exceed your traffic limit quickly.

Are there any scripts banned by DifferentHost?

There are currently no scripts banned by us but we will monitor the CPU usage and keep a lookup for scripts that could drain the server's resources.
