A

Anonymous FTP A method for allowing the public to access the FTP Server with a common login (usually "ftp" or "anonymous" and any password (usually the person"s e-mail address is used as the password).

    Apache Apache is an open-source Web server originally developed in 1995. It has become the most popular Web server in use today, due to its powerful feature set and excellent performance.

    CGI (Common Gateway Interface) -- CGI is an interface that defines how data is passed and serves to connect the Web with other software and databases. Its is not a programming language and can be written in a variety of languages, such as PERL, PHP, or C.
     
    Control Panel A Control Panel provides a simple user interface for maintaining and monitoring your Web site. Features of the Control Panel vary among providers, but most include site administration, design, statistical reporting, and account maintenance tools.
     
    Cron An UNIX command used to schedule jobs to be executed at some time in the future, typically on a periodic or regular basis. When used as a daemon process, the cron runs continuously and executes in response to specified events.

    D

    DNS (Domain Name System) -- DNS is the system responsible for translating Internet Domain Names to their corresponding IP addresses. The DNS maintains a list of all the domain names and distributes them throughout the world.
